From One Pattern to Wild Repose: A Crochet Journey

From One Pattern to Wild Repose: A Crochet Journey

In 2019, I set out to find the perfect crochet pattern for a project I had in mind… and I couldn’t find it anywhere.

After hours (okay, days) of searching, I realized something: if I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted, maybe I needed to create it myself.

So, I did.

What started as frustration turned into late nights of research, sketching, frogging, reworking, and more trial and error than I’d like to admit. But eventually, I pulled it off. I designed my very first crochet pattern — and it worked.

At the time, I wasn’t dreaming about a business. I simply wanted to make beautiful, meaningful pieces for gifts and occasional paid requests. Designing felt personal. Creative. Just for me.

But something shifted.

I started listing a handful of my patterns on Etsy. I thought, “Why not?” I had no big expectations — just curiosity and hope. And little by little, this tiny idea began to grow.

That handful of patterns turned into more.
More ideas.
More designs.
More confidence.

Fast forward to today, and that one pattern from 2019 has led to:

✨ My own company
✨ My own website
✨ Hundreds of patterns
✨ And an incredible Facebook community

Welcome to Wild Repose.

As I’ve recently gone back to revisit some of those early designs, I’ve been amazed — not embarrassed — but amazed at how much I’ve grown. The creativity was always there… but the polish? The structure? The clarity? Those came with time, experience, and a whole lot of learning.

And now I’m doing something really special.

I’m going back to those original patterns — dusting them off, cleaning them up, refreshing the photos, rewriting the instructions, and giving them the professional glow-up they deserve. When I release these refreshed designs, I’ll be offering them FREE for a limited time on my Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/shopwildrepose/

It’s my way of celebrating the journey — and saying thank you to the community that helped make this possible.

If you’d love to grab one of these refreshed patterns for free, make sure you subscribe to the Wild Repose Facebook Page and keep an eye out for the announcements:
